‘Tis the season for love and gratitude! And this year, we surely have a lot of it.
As December greets us with the crisp air and a promise of good cheer, we at the LGBTQCenter can’t help but reflect on all of the incredible stories and experiences we’ve shared this year. Each event held, each moment shared, and each life touched has made 2018 our most impactful year to date. And we couldn’t have done it without you.
Because of the incredible support and outreach within our community, we were able to change the lives of over 12,000 individuals right here in Orange County.
We want to celebrate some of our biggest accomplishments. This year, we have had over 2,835 visits to our dynamic youth programs, which includes 290 new youth getting involved with the Center.
We have trained over 1,750 Orange County individuals to be LGBTQQ affirming in their workplaces and organizations.
We have linked over 500 individuals to trans-affirming healthcare and legal services, including personal outreach to over 223 transgender clients and their families.
We have worked countless hours to make possible the release of Udoka Nweke, a gay Nigerian refugee who had been detained by ICE after being forced to flee his homeland due to threats of death. He just received his work permit on November 27th and can now start working and contributing to this country while rebuilding his life.
All of this and more has been made possible because of your continued support and acceptance. The LGBTQCenter OC is proud to be Orange County’s number one resource for LGBTQQ outreach, advocacy, linkage to care, youth support, mental healthcare, legal services, social support, and much more. We are grateful to be closing in this year by recognizing how very much we’ve grown.
Thank you for helping us make this a historical year for our LGBTQQ community. From all of us at the LGBTQCenter OC, have a very merry holiday season!
