Welcome!
I’d like to welcome you to our new website! We are excited to see it launched and to offer you many more services through the site. I’ll get to those services later. We want this website to be your website; the place where you come for news and information about LGBTQ Center OC, and to connect with all the other LGBTQQ groups in Orange County. The site was designed to be your community hub, so we invite you here to link to all the LGBTQ activities available to you in the county. Do you want to know about Men Alive’s next concert, or find out about the next performance at Theater Out? Just go to our Community Hub page. If the Arts aren’t for you, visit Surf and Sand Softball, or LGBTQQ bowling; if you’re a runner see what the OC Frontrunners are up to. If community service is your thing, check in with Gay4Good. You can access any of these groups through our Community Hub. If there is a group missing, or you are part of a group you want listed, please contact us through the website.
Did you know LGBTQ Center OC has a large Emotional Wellness Center, with 20 therapists specializing in LGBTQ centered therapy? If you want to make an appointment with a therapist, visit Emotional Wellness under the Services banner, and fill out the form. Of course, you can continue to call us to make appointments. The same appointment scheduling tool is available under the HIV banner. Are you looking for an LGBTQQ friendly doctor, dentist, therapist, social group, religious group, plumber (they exist? Our referral list is long and comprehensive, and we’re adding to it all the time. If you see anything you think is missing, please let us know. Like I said, this is your website, and we want it to serve all your needs. We also have information about our David Bohnett Cyber Center—open for the entire community, the cyber center is available to you any time LGBTQ Center OC main office is open. People come here to look for jobs, check their email.
Under the Programs Banner, you’ll find information on Center wide programs, as well as our specific Youth, Senior, and Transgender programming. Once you’ve visited the Program pages you can connect to the Program Facebook pages, which have much more information! All of our programs are extremely comprehensive and offer almost daily activities. And, don’t forget the Events page: If you want to know the different events and activities we have coming up visit Events for all of the latest information.
Over the last couple of years, LGBTQ Center OC has rededicated itself to advocating for all members of our community. LGBTQ discrimination is commonplace in Orange County and members of our community are often reluctant to report it. We’re afraid of losing jobs, or having to deal with the police; we’re afraid of being outed, or of suffering further discrimination. Attacks on gay men and members of our transgender community are the most violent hate crimes. The Center is your supporter and ally; we will stand by your side if you decide to report discrimination and/or hate crimes. We have experts on staff that can help you deal with incidents of discrimination and bigotry; if you believe you have been the victim of workplace discrimination, we can help you directly or connect you to other agencies that can offer you help. It is vital that our community report any incidence of hate; we understand if you don’t want to report an incident; we will act of you ally in this situations and make the first report for you. We have excellent relationships with the county law enforcement departments, the District Attorney’s office, and the other county agencies which combat hate. Reporting is vital, because it allows the police to track incidence before they turn into crimes.
